Barrier Reef Snorkeling Wonders

Snorkelers, get ready for the unique and rare opportunity to swim at the second longest barrier reef in the world. You’ll wade by a reef that is nearly the length of Belize! The shallow areas average about 20 feet with atolls that stretch 30 to 60 miles. Your boat will whisk you off to the reef passing picturesque low, mangrove-covered islands that surround the unspoiled area. You’ll stop at a beautiful private tropical island that sits atop of the reef. Upon your arrival, you’ll receive high-quality snorkeling gear and dive into the waters where more than 100 species of coral and as many as 500 species of fish reside. As you float in the warm waters along the reef, watch for bursts of nurse sharks, rays, and turtles. While here, you’ll likely see a variety of hard corals, gorgonians, sea fans, and tunicates. Once you’re done exploring the reef, take a break on the private island. You’ll have plenty of time to lay out, and sunbathe on the beach, or rest in the shade and dip your feet in the island’s soft sands.

Enter the rainforest environs of the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center, known as the “best little zoo in the world”. Your licensed professional guide will kick off the tour with facts of Belize's Culture and History as you enjoy a drive through the country side. Upon arrival, receive a short safety briefing before been outfitted with your harness, helmet and gloves. A short trek to the 1st platform that is 700 ft high above the jungle floor gets your heart pumping. As you zip across 800 ft, you'll have a bird's eye view of the entrance to the Maya underworld "Xibalba" of the centuries old Crystal Cave. After your thrilling zip line aerial adventure with 5 zips in total, it's time for a short jungle trek through broadleaf rainforest where your guides will provide you with fun facts about the vegetation that abounds with their various medicinal uses. This tour is perfect for nature lovers! Enjoy a scenic boat ride along the coast of Belize City en route to manatee feeding grounds. Your path along the river will take you through a series of small rapids and peaceful waters. Along the way you will see a variety of birds such as the white egret, heron and hawk, to name a few. Iguanas usually adorn the overhanging trees and river banks and occasionally you can view and listen to howler monkeys.
